GSMP presentations at BLS7

There were many presentations by GSMP researchers at the Bio-Logging Symposium 7 virtual conference

The Bio-Logging Symposium 7 virtual conference from Hawaii was held on 18th – 22nd October.

Many GSMP researchers made excellent presentations detailing their work on shark movements, behaviour, ecology and new instrumentation.

A major highlight was GSMP researcher and MBA/University of Southampton PhD student, Freya Womersley winning the Audience Favourite Presentation Award for her talk on “Revealing cryptic collision-risk hotspots of marine traffic and an ocean giant”.

Freya’s talk stood out among the 300 other presentations with excellent delivery together with amazing graphics and very cool animations. Well done Freya!

More good news, Dr Ana Sequeira won the Early Career Researcher Award from the International Bio-Logging Society and was presented with the award by the Society’s president Prof Christian Rutz at the symposium closing ceremony – well done Ana, you star!
