First global shark tracking results coming soon

After two years of analysis and writing the GSMP team will soon be publishing their first results quantifying the global spatial overlap of pelagic sharks and industrial longline fishing effort.

The study summarises results for 23 species and specifically focuses on 11 threatened species such as the shortfin mako, blue, great white and oceanic whitetip sharks.

Results have immediate major implications for how shark space use hotspots need to be conserved and managed.

We’ll update here soon.
